Preparing the Manchurian Balls


– 1 cup grated mixed vegetables (carrots, cabbage, bell peppers, etc.)

– 1/4 cup finely chopped onions

– 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (maida)

– 1/4 cup cornstarch (cornflour)

– 1 tablespoon soya sauce

– 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic

– 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger

– 1 teaspoon finely chopped green chilies (adjust to taste)

– Salt to taste

– Water (as needed)

– Oil for deep frying


1. In a mixing bowl, combine the grated mixed vegetables, finely chopped onions, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, soy sauce, finely chopped garlic, ginger, green chilies, and salt.

2. Gradually add water as needed to form a thick mixture that can be shaped into balls.

3. Form the mixture into petite balls and set them aside.

4. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat for deep frying.

5. Carefully add the shaped vegetable balls into the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.

6. Remove the fried Manchurian balls from the oil and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Set them aside.

– 1 tablespoon oil

– 1 tablespoon finely chopped garlic

– 1 tablespoon finely chopped ginger

– 1/4 cup finely chopped onions

–  Finely dice 1/4 cup of bell peppers (capsicum).

– 2 tablespoons soy sauce

– 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup

– 1 tablespoon chilli sauce (adjust to taste)

– 1 tablespoon vinegar

– 1 teaspoon sugar

– 1 cup vegetable broth or water

– 1 tablespoon cornstarch (cornflour) mixed with 2 tablespoons water

– Salt and pepper to taste


1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a separate pan over medium-high heat.

2. Add finely chopped garlic and ginger to the pan, and sauté for a minute until fragrant.

3. Add finely chopped onions and bell peppers (capsicum) to the pan and stir-fry until they become tender.

4. Mix in soy sauce, tomato ketchup, chilli sauce, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavours to make it tasty.

5. Pour in vegetable broth or water, and bring the sauce to a simmer.

6. Gradually add the cornstarch-water mixture to the simmering sauce while stirring continuously until it thickens and achieves a glossy texture.
